Wakatipu arts and cultural hub APPROVED!
On 28 February 2020, we stood in front of a crowd of 300 local arts and cultural enthusiasts within our community and released the district’s first-ever Cultural Masterplan.
Members of our board shared the vision and purpose of the newly formed Three Lakes Cultural Trust, including the roadmap of recommendations and key priorities for action over the coming three to five years.
For those new to the Trust, the Cultural Masterplan was commissioned by the Trust through AEA Consulting in 2019. This detailed analysis of our district’s arts & culture sector, created by AEA, was taken to the community, so their voice could be heard.
We heard you loud and clear, as one of the key findings identified was a lack of space for our existing community of performing, teaching, creative and cultural activities.
These findings were the catalyst for the TLCT to approach QLDC and advocate for the establishment of an arts and cultural hub in the Wakatipu.
We are proud that our role as advocates, alongside your strong submissions to the QLDC Ten Year Plan, have resulted in the approval of a new arts and cultural facility in the Wakatipu!
A newly formed facilities trust now take the baton to open the hub’s doors!
