A word from our Trust Chair, Carroll Joynes

The Three Lakes Cultural Trust regrets to inform its supporters of Sir Eion Edgar’s death.

In addition to the many initiatives, large and small, that Sir Eion and his wife Lady Jan Edgar supported in Queenstown, Dunedin and across the entirety of New Zealand, Eion was, alongside Jan, Co-patron of our trust, embracing its vision and purpose from first inception.

A strong advocate for arts and culture, Eion was always encouraging. He kept abreast of everything this new arts and culture trust is involved in and vigorously supported our Renew Art initiative last year, as well as the creation of our online portal, Te Kete Toi.

We thoroughly enjoyed the time that we were able to spend with him at our trust events and have sincerely valued his many insightful ideas and suggestions.

We are deeply saddened by his death and extend our sympathies to Jan and his entire family. The absence, and legacy of this exceptional man will be felt by so many, in so many different ways, throughout New Zealand for decades to come.
