Spaces Project

Three Lakes Cultural Trust and Queenstown Lakes District Council are playing matchmaker - connecting creativity with spaces and places across the district.

This November, we are working to transform all kinds of spaces across the Queenstown Lakes District into sites of creative expression - with a district-wide public art exhibition that goes beyond gallery walls.

From shopfronts and cafés to community halls, laneways, lobbies, and more -  we’re inviting local artists, performers, and venue owners to collaborate and bring creative energy into unexpected places.

As a venue, why get involved?

  • Activate your space – Showcase your venue in a whole new light.

  • Support local creatives – Offer a canvas for fresh, innovative projects.

  • Spark new energy – Host performances, installations, storytelling, or pop-up experiences.

  • Meet your match – Connect with creatives ready to dream big and collaborate.

As a Creative, what type of work?

  • Something new - Are you underway with new work that you want to show, sell or promote?

  • Something already created - Do you have work that is created but no where to showcase?

  • Something curated - Some venues may be looking for a commissioned piece of work.

  • A performance - are you looking for an audience? Are you wanting to perform something spoken, sung or played?

This June, creatives, cultural leaders, businesses and community groups from across the motu are invited to attend Te Muka Toi | Te Muka Tākata, a new four-day creative and cultural hui taking place from June 12–15, 2025, in Queenstown and Wānaka.
