Introducing Laura Shallcrass

I am a visual artist and author who creates artwork for publishing, packaging and Web.
My passion is to create artworks which celebrate nature and emphasize our duty as caretakers of the natural world. Thematically my recent work has focused on mental health, preservation of the environment and female power. My storytelling uses quiet poetry intending the reader to discern their own meanings based on their unique perspectives, with multiple visual narratives and hidden details as a signature of my work. I have participated in a number of group exhibitions as well as 4 solo shows.

I was a finalist for the Red Book Art Prize 2013, am published in the Red Book, Remix and Extra Curricular and other publications from New Zealand and Australia.
