About Country Lane
Just 5 minutes from Queenstown Airport, Country Lane is a charming rustic village that blends heritage with a welcoming, vibrant atmosphere. The site is home to relocated heritage buildings that sit alongside original farm sheds, creating a unique, picturesque environment.
Surrounded by lush gardens and featuring a children’s play area, Country Lane offers visitors a delightful experience for all ages. With a diverse mix of local businesses, it’s a place where community spirit thrives, and guests can explore, relax, and discover something new around every corner.
Māori Astronomer Gemma Cribb
Join Māori astronomer Gemma Cribb (Ngāti Manuhiri) for a journey through the stars, guided by traditional Māori knowledge and storytelling.
Based in Kā-Muriwai (Arrowtown), Gemma will lead a stargazing experience rooted in mātauranga Māori (Māori knowledge), sharing purākau (ancestral stories) of the night sky, including the significance of Matariki and Puanga/Puaka. Step into the magic of the Queenstown sky as we explore the stars and their stories under the open night air. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, we’ll move indoors for an engaging session that brings the night sky to life in new ways.
Whether you’re curious about Matariki, fascinated by astronomy, or simply want to connect with the seasons and sky in a meaningful way, this is a unique and enriching evening for all.
