Rangihuatake Sharne Parkinson

Taonga Pūoro sits at the heart of my practice. Alongside my whānau, including my son Rangipūatea, we facilitate wānanga that explore the making, playing, and cultural significance of these ancestral instruments as a pathway for healing. We created Pāoro o te Atua – Echoes of our Atua, a sound oro-based journey grounded in the understanding that Taonga Pūoro are Rongoā.

Our Taonga Puoro Traditional Māori Instruments are now in an exciting state of integration as we see it more widely used with new generations of practitioners creating, performing, and teaching the instruments and their traditions. We facilitate wānanga in the Deep South where I grew up and raised my tamariki and also on our marae up north. We are part of creating the Taonga Pūoro collective, Wai Oro Ariki in and around Tauranga Moana.

We will have Taonga Puoro for sale and an opportunity for you to make your own on the day.
