CCS funding is now open!

Artists, creatives, and community groups in the Queenstown Lakes District can now apply for funding through the Creative Communities Scheme (CCS). This funding initiative aims to strengthen the local arts sector by supporting projects that foster community participation, celebrate cultural diversity, and engage young people in the arts.

The CCS provides funding of up to $2,000 per project and is open to New Zealand citizens and residents who wish to deliver arts-based initiatives in the Queenstown Lakes District. Applications for the current funding round are now open and will close on 28 February 2025. This fund operates twice a year, with rounds in February and August.

Supporting Local Creativity

To be eligible for funding, projects must align with at least one of the following key objectives:

  • Encourage participation – creating opportunities for local communities to engage with and take part in the arts.

  • Support diversity – promoting the diverse artistic and cultural traditions of local communities.

  • Enable young people – providing arts opportunities for individuals under 18.

Previous recipients of the CCS include organisations such as the LUMA Festival and Kahu Youth Trust, which have used the funding to run arts-based workshops and events. Over the years, many individuals have also received funding to host small arts workshops. These initiatives have been particularly valuable in helping multicultural communities reconnect following the disruptions of COVID-19.

How to Apply

Applicants can access guidelines and application forms online to assist with the application process. Common mistakes to avoid include failing to provide a required quote or not completing the budget section correctly. A strong application will clearly outline the project's potential, including a solid marketing plan and an understanding of the target audience.

For those with a creative vision and a passion for engaging communities in the arts, this funding opportunity can provide the necessary support to bring projects to life. Don’t miss out—apply before 28 February 2025!
