Mat Tyrrell / Winterkeep
Practice: Cinematic soundscapes
The Experience: An immersive storytelling and music performance combining spoken-word recordings (courtesy of long-time collaborator Dave Olson), original soundscapes and visual projections to bring decades-old stories to new audiences. Music becomes the thread that weaves together stories, personal histories and shared human experiences, creating an intimate and memorable atmosphere. Think of it as floating in a dopamine cloud, where storytelling, place and community come together.

About the Artist:
Mat Tyrrell is a musical artist recording under the name Winterkeep here in Queenstown for many years, and has only in the past 12 months taken the project out into the community. He creates visceral, cinematic soundscapes by processing real-world instruments (mostly guitar and piano) and blending them with spoken word, field recordings, samples, drum machines and synths, building a hypnotic story in sound.
