Tony O’Keefe is a sculptor and installation artist living in Queenstown, New Zealand.
From a zero-waste studio at Bob’s Cove he enjoys off-grid isolation, the company of farm animals and the intensely private world of arc welding.
Employing his signature materials of old steel and found objects he fuses beautiful, dramatic and sometimes menacing forms. O’Keefe’s works reference nature, science, philosophy and religion in personal geometries which frequently allude to deeper intellectual currents.
Insisting that art is a mutual, multi-sensory experience O’Keefe invites everyone to enjoy the physical and tactile dimensions to his sculpture and says that, unlike most exhibits, the message here is:
“PLEASE TOUCH THE ART”
